Officers shoot suspect while executing warrant in northeast Houston

HOUSTON

The incident happened around 4pm in the 8300 block of Allwood.

Police say narcotics officers were serving a warrant on a man suspected of selling drugs from his house.

Police say the officers raided the home, clearly identified themselves as police and were wearing their gear as they searched for the suspect. One officer was walking down the hallway when he heard a rustling noise from a room. The officer once again announced he was police and entered the room.

The suspect armed with a shotgun, which he pointed at the officer from about three feet away. Fearing for his life, the officer shot at the suspect several times and stepped out of the room.

The suspect then closed the door and officers had to order him out of the room with his hands shown. The suspect complied and he was taken into custody.

The suspect was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition. He was conscious and awake after the shooting.

Per policy, the shooting is under investigation by the Houston Police Department's homicide and internal affairs divisions, as well as the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
