Activists demand investigation after boy, 5, left alone on Klein ISD school bus

HOUSTON

The activists want an independent investigation of the incident. They say a bus driver failed to check the bus after finishing her route Monday and left a 5-year-old boy alone for two hours.

A supervisor found the boy, called his mother and took the child to his afternoon class.

"He doesn't want to ride the bus anymore. So you know we take him to school and he just keeps telling me, 'Mommy the bus driver and the kids left me on the bus,'" said mother Tashera Hurd.

Klein ISD sent a statement saying in part, "The proper procedure was not followed to disembark the students" and "the employee is no longer employed by the district."
