Piles and piles of trash dumped in ditches and vacant lots along Tidwell and Peachtree have been cleaned up. Residents contacted Eyewitness News to show us the illegal dumping and how it has become a constant problem in the area.
Police say they are doing what they can to stop it from happening. They say these cases can be difficult to solve, but HPD's Environmental Investigations unit deals with the complaints as they come in -- sometimes as many as 300 per month.
Council Member Jerry Davis told us on Monday that community leaders would pitch in to clean up the mess.
