The accident happened around 6:30pm Thursday on Mason Road near Interstate 10.
Irene Bourgeois, 78, was crossing Mason when she was struck by a pickup. The driver did not stop, officials said.
HCSO investigators believe they have identified the driver as 20-year-old Cory Christopher Bonnefin. According to court documents, Bonnefin's girlfriend told authorities he was giving her a ride to work at the time of the accident. She says they knew they struck a person, and she told Bonnefin to go back and help, but he did not.
Bonnefin was arrested Saturday and charged with accident involving injury.
A judge Monday refused bond for Bonnefin during a court appearance.
