Vandi Fofanah, 25, is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 years of age. Court documents state on July 29, 2011 officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failure to stop at a stop sign in southwest Houston. Police say Fofanah and a 12-year-old girl were in the vehicle, and that the girl said she was a victim of sexual exploitation through prostitution.
The girl told police that she was walking down the street when Fofanah pulled up and asker her if she was looking "to date." Court documents show Fofanah drove the girl to the parking lot of an apartment complex where he sexually assaulted her in his vehicle. She said police pulled them over after he was going to drop her back off.
According to court documents, the girl says Fofanah paid her $40 for sex. Police say Fofanah admitted to them that the girl had been in his vehicle and that he paid the girl $20 for a sex act.
Bond has been set at $30,000.
