Search for gunman who killed two at flea market

HOUSTON

Investigators are still talking to witnesses and have no one in custody so far. They tell us the same crime has happened before, in almost the exact same place.

The shooting happened in the 8800 block of Airline near Gulf Bank. The flea markets that line Airline are where many families gather to buy food and to socialize in an open-air setting. But Sunday night, at about 10 minutes before 7:00, detectives say several men started fighting at the flea market.

Two of them were shot and killed at the scene. The victims have been identified as Eliazar Valenzuela and Abram Vallejo, who are both said to be about 20 years old. Their killer is around the same age, and fled on foot.

Family members of the victims rushed to the flea market and watched as deputies blocked off an area where the bodies of two men were lying along a fence.

Witnesses say they heard about five to six gunshots followed by a series of screams and a large crowd of people running.

People who live nearby say they are concerned about the safety of these flea markets.

"There is a lot of fighting right now. I see a lady going to hit a man. Not very nice," said neighbor Jolanda Garza.

Last February, less than a block away a 17-year-old was shot and killed at a neighboring flea market. His killer was caught. That's what investigators are hoping will happen in this case.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
