High school ditches mascot name 'Cougars' after some parents call it offensive

DRAPER, UT

A school district in Draper, Utah has overruled the students' choice to name their team the 'Cougars' because it may be insensitive to women.

In pop culture, the 'cougar' is a nickname for a middle-aged woman who attracts younger men. Some parents called the school board, saying they didn't want their young daughters being called cougars.

The board, made up of six men and one woman, agreed and says the team will be named the Chargers instead.
