Houston's holiday tree to be lit tonight

Houston's official holiday tree will be lit Friday night during the 4th Annual Downtown Holiday Spectacular.

A towering 67-foot white fir will be adorned with glowing energy efficient lights, shimmering ornaments and a star. Two-time Grammy Award winner Diane Schuur and American Idol winner Ruben Studdard will headline the event

The event is from 6pm to 8pm tonight at City Hall on Bagby.

In Pasadena, the city will also unveil its Christmas tree tonight. You can bring the family to Pasadena City Hall on Southmore from 6pm to 9pm to watch the tree light up. Santa and Mrs. Claus will greet visitors as well as local carolers and dance groups.

And that's not all -- Pearland is also hosting a tree lighting ceremony and Christmas festival from 7pm to 9pm tonight at Pearland Town Center on Broadway. Santa Claus will also be making his way to this event. He'll host a breakfast gathering Saturday morning as well from 8am to 11am.
