Company opening HQ in Sugar Land says no to email

SUGAR LAND, TX

That's because the company has informed its 74,000 employees in Houston and worldwide that within 18 months, email will no longer be an option for inter-office communication.

CEO Thierry Breton says email is pollution plain and simple and he hasn't sent an email in the last 3 years. He says only 10 percent of company messages workers receive everyday are useful, and 18 percent of employee email is spam.

He also says middle managers spend as much as half their week reading and writing emails and it's starting to encroach on their personal lives.
