According to officials, it happened around midnight Wednesday on Westheimer near Vineyard.
Deputies say the driver stopped and called 9-1-1 after the crash. The woman died at the scene.
The driver is not expected to face charges.
Authorities say there is no lighting along that stretch of road and it's hard to see someone crossing the street.
The victim has not been identified.
