Hundreds line up for pies in NW Houston

It's a familiar sight on the day before Thanksgiving -- the line outside the Flying Saucer Pie Company

People started lining up early Tuesday afternoon for a Houston tradition. The lines started forming yesterday afternoon about 2pm and they have been there all night at the Flying Saucer Pie Company on Crosstimbers near Yale. This time every year folks come from miles around just to get some of those famous pies for their Thanksgiving celebrations.

Customers are waiting for the pie business to open at 7am. It's common for this line to become very long as the opening approaches the day before Thanksgiving because you can't buy a pie on Thursday and for many families it's a tradition, which, regardless of price, it is a holiday treat.

"Honestly, I come here for one banana cream pie and I get everybody's order for them," said customer Angela Saucedo.

Flying Saucer expects to sell thousands of pies this week. Fresh strawberry and banana cream pies are the favorite and those typically sell out first.
