There's a lot going on downtown over the holidays and Mayor Annise Parker Tuesday announced plans for the annual holiday celebration outside City Hall.

"We hope that this is a wonderful holiday for all Houstonians and we want to see you down here celebrating with us," the mayor said.

The city's official holiday tree will be lit Friday, December 2 during the 4th Annual Downtown Holiday Spectacular. There will be fireworks, music, and a visit by Santa Claus. Two-time Grammy Award winner Diane Schuur and American Idol Season 2 winner Ruben Studdard will be headlining.

The fun gets underway between 6pm and 8pm on Dec. 2 right in front of City Hall. It's free for the entire family.

Also, starting this Friday holiday trolleys will begin running downtown every weekend until New Year's.
