A man is accused of engaging in sexual contact with an 8-year-old girl behind a church in the Spring Branch area.

Pablo Cantarero, 37, is charged with indecency with a child. Court documents state the girl was attending a party at the church on May 5, 2010 when she and her friends went to play behind the church. She says she saw Cantarero playing football with some other men in the same area. The girl told investigators that Cantarero approached her and the other kids and asked if they wanted to play hide-and-seek with him. She said she and her friends said yes.

According to court documents, the girl says Cantarero took her by the hand and led her to hide inside an abandoned shack behind the church where tools are kept. The girl says Cantarero then began to touch her inappropriately. She told police that she ran away.

The girl says she told her pastor of the incident and police say his statement about the girl's account was consistent with what she told police about the incident.

Police say the girl positively identified Cantarero out of a photo spread.

Bond has been set at $10,000.
