It happened around 7:30pm Saturday in the 14000 block of Hubenak Rd. in Needville
The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office received a call from a neighbor after one of the couple's sons ran to their home for help.
Deputies said they arrived and found the child's mother -- Saffaria Kay Jones, 30 -- lying on the lawn in front of her home with multiple stab wounds. She was already dead.
Officials said her husband, 50-year-old Sherman Jones, was also outside and had blood on his clothing. He was transported to Oakbend Medical Center where he was treated for a minor wound and released into police custody.
Sherman Jones is charged with murder. He was being held Sunday at Fort Bend County Jail without bond.
Four children, ranging in age from six to 11, were present during the incident.
