Arrest in man's murder at SW Houston apt complex

HOUSTON

Martez Levy, 25, is charged with capital murder. Police say on October 16 two females lured the victim, Luis Vasquez, and his friend to the back parking lot of the West Wood Garden Condominiums in the 9300 block of Country Creek. Vasquez and his friend drove to the rear of the complex where Vasquez parked his car, as instructed by the females. Vasquez then got out of the car and began to walk toward a breezeway area when he was attacked by two black males.

According to police, the suspects struck Vasquez several times in the back of the head with a blunt force object and then fatally shot him in the back of the head. Vasquez, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Vasquez's friend managed to flee on foot and called 911.

Further investigation and witness statements identified Levy as a suspect in this case and on November 8 police say he was arrested in the 9400 block of Cullen without incident.

A second suspect, described only as a black male, 5 feet 7 inches tall and about 150 pounds, remains at large.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the second suspect is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
