2-alarm apartment fire damages multiple units

HOUSTON

The fire started around 3:30pm Sunday at the Arrowood Apartments on South Course Dr. at Spice Ln. near Beltway 8 and Bissonnet.

Fire crews were able to keep the flames contained to one building, but the blaze heavily damaged four units.

Firefighters also had to cut the power to the building as a precaution, which means residents of four other units will be displaced through Monday.

"The wires to this building all run to the attic and, as you can see, the attic is heavily damaged," ," Houston Fire Department Deputy Chief Terry Stone explained. "We don't want anybody electrocuting or starting additional fires until the apartment electrician can isolate it."

Everyone was able to get out of their homes safely and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
