The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office tells the San Antonio Express-News that Mable Christine Maddox died Wednesday at the San Antonio Military Medical Center. She suffered burns on more than 50 percent of her body. Her death was ruled an accident.
Maddox's one-story home was engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived on the afternoon of Sept. 18. Her daughter helped her escape and was treated for injuries that were not life threatening.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, though officials say it appears to be accidental.
