Dickinson ISD employee may have meningitis

DICKINSON, TX

Two letters are being sent out: One to everyone letting them know an unidentified employee may have meningococcal meningitis; the final test results are still pending. The second letter, from the Galveston County Health Department, will be sent to students and employees who may have had close contact with the employee.

Health officials say there is no cause for alarm because meningococcal meningitis is spread only through direct contact with nose or throat fluids of an infected person.
