Daniel Dewayne Smith, 27, is charged with murder in the 183rd State District Court. He is accused in the death of Korsica Shepherd, of Conroe.
Police say a security guard was patrolling the office building parking lot at 650 North Sam Houston Parkway East service road about 4:15pm on August 19 when he discovered Shepherd's body. There were signs of trauma to Shepherd, who at that time, did not have identification on her.
Police say further investigation and witness statements later identified Smith as the suspect in this case.
Smith is currently in federal custody on an unrelated charge.
