It happened 9pm on Sheldon Road near Long. Deputies say southbound traffic on Sheldon was at a standstill, as drivers waited for an 18-wheeler to move out of a parking lot.
Lee Neal, 58, of Humble, got out of his car to see what the hold-up was and as he was walking back to his car, he was hit. The victim was taken to Hermann Hospital by Life Flight in critical condition.
The driver who hit him did stop and is not expected to face any charges.
