N. Texas QB sets state record with 683 yards passing

Dylan Sheffield of Wichita Falls set a state single-game passing record with 683 yards in a 53-49 comeback win over Denton on Friday night.

According to Texas Football magazine, the previous record was held by Mac Morse of Richardson Pearce, who threw for 634 yards against Carrollton Newman Smith in 2009.

Sheffield was 35 of 50 for seven touchdowns, including an 81-yard score to Chance Garey with 28 seconds left to win the game. Garey had 10 catches for 270 yards and four touchdowns.
