Two pedestrians killed in hit-and-run in SW Houston

HOUSTON

The accident happened around 9:30pm on White Heather and West Fuqua Street. Police say a woman and man were crossing the street when the suspect's car ran a red light and ran right into them, dragging the woman's body about 50 yards before leaving the scene. Witnesses told police the driver was speeding before the crash.

"I was actually pulling up and I saw the bodies hit the ground and I saw the second body being drug, so that's when I pulled up over here and I jumped out and went to see. He was breathing a little bit," said eyewitness Charles Ashley.

Both victims, a 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, died at the scene. Their identities have not been released.

Police say witnesses were able to stop the driver and hold her until police could arrive. Officers tell us she appeared to be drunk. She has been identified as Chavon Latowya Frank, 30.

Frank has been charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter.
