SUV driver injured in wreck with school bus

HOUSTON

The accident happened at about 2:30pm on Highway 6 at Sienna Ranch. A Fort Bend ISD school bus was rear-ended by an SUV.

Emergency crews had to use to the Jaws of Life to extract the driver of the SUV. He was flown to Hermann Hospital by Life Flight suffering a number of injuries, according to Sgt. Russell Terry with the Missouri City Police Department. Two children, ages two and three, were also in the SUV. They were taken to a hospital as a precaution.

The bus driver was not injured, and there were no students on the bus at the time.

The cause of the accident is not clear at this time.

All lanes of Highway 6 are shut down during the investigation. Sgt. Terry said the road is expected to be closed until about 5:30pm. Drivers are strongly encouraged to find other routes.
