New safety program kicks off in Houston

HOUSTON

Mayor Parker, along with Houston Police Chief Charles McClelland, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, announced on Tuesday the launch of iWatchHouston.org, a regional public awareness campaign where residents can access informative videos, get tips and contact information, as well as submit reports of suspicious activity.

Authorities also are encouraging residents to use a new hotline, 855-I-WATCH4 (855-492-8244), to report suspicious activities.

The initative is part of the "If You See Something, Say Something" campaign established by the Department of Homeland Security. Napolitano provides oversight for that program, while Jackson Lee and Mayor Parker oversee the local intiative.
