HCSO: 3 pedestrians deliberately struck by SUV

HOUSTON

According to witnesses, the driver of a sports utility vehicle targeted the victims as they were leaving a house party on Flint Hill near Barker Cypress around midnight.

The large barbecue pit, pots and cooking utensils are still left in the driveway of a home in the 5900 block of Brenwood Glen Trail.

Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies say the resident threw a boxing match watch party outside. Neighbors say it was a big one.

Neighbor Kim Nobles' husband drove by.

"Everyone was gathered under the canopy with a big-screen television, getting ready to watch the fight," Nobles said.

"They always have parties over there. It's a monthly occurrence, if not more than that," neighbor Amanda Aoster said

But last night, Aoster says she noticed something different.

"My dogs heard something. They were barking at the door late last night," she said.

Deputies say there was an argument between two groups at the house, and one group began walking down the street.

That's when authorities say a man attending the party jumped into a white SUV, turned it toward the group that was walking away and slammed on the gas pedal.

Officials say the suspect intentionally ran over three people, injuring a woman and critically injuring two men.

Both men were taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition. The woman was taken by ambulance to Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition.

The driver of the SUV fled the scene and is still at large.

Meanwhile, neighbors say they are still in shock and won't soon forget what happened on their street.

"It's horrible. I pray for the people that were involved. I pray that they will heal and a resolution will come of this," Nobles said.
