2 dead, 3 injured in Montgomery County crash

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX

It happened around 5:30pm on F.M. 1485 at Firetower.

According to officials, the 46-year-old driver of a white Dodge 3500 truck was northbound on F.M. 1485 when he went through the curve near Firetower and crossed the center line, striking a Ford Explorer head-on.

The driver of the truck was ejected and taken to the hospital in critical condition. His 17-year-old son was in the passenger seat. He was able to crawl out of the vehicle and was transported in stable condition.

The driver of the Ford Explorer -- Edy Periera, 43 -- died at the scene.

Periera had two passengers who were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

The front seat passenger -- 61-year-old Maria Castilleja -- died at the hospital Saturday from her injuries.

F.M. 1485 was closed until 11 p.m. as officers investigated the accident. It is unknown if any charges will be filed against the driver of the truck.
