Vigil to be held for boys fatally stabbed by cousin

SPRING, TX

Investigators say 25-year-old Joseph Thornton stabbed 10-year-old Hunter Archer and 8-year-old Jhaden Archer while they were playing video games. b

Shaine Archer says he and his wife adopted the boys just two years ago, and that he'd been out at a shooting range with Thornton earlier Sunday and that "everything seemed fine" when they came home and he went to take a nap.

But Shaine Archer says he woke up to screams. He saw his wife trying to save the boys, and then later found Thornton's body outside. He'd apparently shot himself to death with the very same shotgun he'd just fired at the shooting range.

Right now, sheriff's deputies don't have a motive in the case and are awaiting toxicology results on Thornton.

The vigil will start at 8:30pm at The Church at Creek's End located at Kuykendahl and Rhodes Road in Spring.
