A grass fire in northwest Harris County was put out before it spread to any homes.

The fire was spotted early this morning in the woods along Kuykendahl and Cy Hill. Firefighters showed up with three fire trucks as a precaution.

"Got here while the fire was still relatively small, and we kept it to a one truck fire," said Brett Peabody with the Klein Fire Department. "Right now with the conditions, we're just very cautious and we want to prevent these fires from becoming major events like they're having in Magnolia right now."

A Harris County sheriff's deputy says someone started a small fire to stay warm, and the flames grew out of control.
