At around noon Tuesday, League City police say they received a call for assistance from the Hitchcock Police Department who were in pursuit of a white box van that had been stolen at gun point in their city.
League City officers followed the vehicle from League City into Texas City and then back to League City. Once the suspect returned to League City, police say he crashed the vehicle in a fence behind a church located at the corner of W. Main St. and S. Wesley Dr. The suspect fled on foot into a nearby neighborhood.
Officers say they formed a perimeter and began tracking the suspect with a K9 unit. They are currently searching the neighborhood and are being assisted by an air unit.
The suspect is described as a black male, medium height and medium build wearing all black clothing.
