Clerk shot in overnight robbery in N. Harris County

HOUSTON

It happened at the Super Buy Food Store on Ella and Barren Springs at around 11:45pm in north Harris County. Deputies were called to the convenience store for a weapons disturbance.

When they arrived, they found the store clerk shot multiple times in the parking lot. They say a man confronted and then attempted to rob the store clerk while he was exiting the store at the end of his shift. The suspect ended up shooting the clerk.

"As it turned out, the suspect attempted to rob him, or did rob him, at gunpoint. A fight ensued. The suspect left on foot, leaving behind his weapon, and literally ran out of his shoes," said Sgt. Doug Klim with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect left his gun at the store, then fled westbound on Barren Springs. The clerk is now fighting for his life at Memorial Hermann Hospital as deputies look for the gunman.

The description of the suspect is vague, only that he is a black male, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-7 and between 150-170 pounds. He's said to be in his early 20s.

If you have any information in this case, you're asked to call police.
