The deadly confrontation happened just outside the Brixx Bar, west of downtown Houston.
It was just after 1am when that manager says he forgot his cell phone and returned to the bar. He told police he saw a man trying to break in through a side door. That's when he chased the suspected burglar into a crawl space in the alley that is only about a foot and a half wide.
"It's such a tight space that the suspect was lying on the ground," said Jodi Silva with the Houston Police Department. "The bar manager was next to him and he was just stuck there in that one spot."
By the time officers arrived, the suspected burglar was dead. It's not clear if he had a medical condition or another reason for his sudden death.
