San Antonio lawyer pleads no contest in drug case

SAN ANTONIO, TX

The plea agreement came Monday for 56-year-old Gammon Guinn as jury selection was set to begin in his drug possession trial.

Guinn was in private practice when he was arrested in 2006. Police had received a tip from one of Guinn's clients, who claimed the lawyer was forcing him to buy crack cocaine that they both would use.

Guinn had no immediate comment after being sentenced to deferred adjudication probation. He also must pay a $2,000 fine and do 320 hours of community service.

Guinn formerly was an assistant district attorney for Bexar (bayr) County. He failed in two judicial campaigns in the 1990s.
