Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure

August 7, 2011 (CHICAGO)

The 60-mile walk through the northern suburbs and Chicago was one of several taking place around the country to raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer.

Sunday was the third and final day of the Walk. Pink-clad participants walked to raise money for research, community programs, breast cancer screening and treatment. The event culminates Sunday with a closing ceremony involving all approximaely 1,900 walkers at Soldier Field at 4:30 p.m. That event is open to the public.

As participants filed past in Chicago's Legion Park Sunday morning, however, spokesperson Dr. Sheri Phillips talked to ABC7 about her personal survival story and this year's event.
