Austin getting 103 plug-in vehicle charge stations

AUSTIN, TX Austin is one of nine metro regions nationwide to take part in the program using federal stimulus funds. The U.S. Department of Energy says Texas, as of this spring, already had dozens of charging stations in Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and some suburbs.

The updated list of 103 Austin plug-in charging stations, announced Wednesday, includes sites at restaurants, hotels, medical facilities, schools, retail stores and libraries.

Austin Energy offers a $25 six-month subscription swipe card for unlimited charging. An alternative method of payment is using a credit card for $2 per hour of charging.
