Texas facing shutdown of airport projects

HOUSTON Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Houston Mayor Annise Parker and Abilene Mayor Norm Archibald on Tuesday implored Congress to pass legislation giving the FAA the authority needed for projects to continue.

Congress last week missed a deadline to pass legislation giving the FAA the authority needed for projects around the U.S. to move forward.

In Houston, a $25 million project for an air traffic control facility has been stopped. In Abilene, construction on a nearly $16 million air traffic control tower is on hold.
