Vehicle fire creates traffic jam on U.S. 290

HOUSTON It happened around 1:30pm on U.S. 290 at W. 43rd.

All outbound lanes on 290 were closed while crews worked to extinguish the blaze. Once the fire was under control, one lane opened for traffic to go around the scene.

Traffic was moving freely by 3pm.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time. It is also unknown if anyone was injured.

The vehicle -- believed to be an 18-wheeler or RV -- was completely destroyed.
