HOUSTON --Homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in southwest Houston. An officer was patrolling the area on South Kirkwood near Bellaire when she spotted a man lying in the street. The officer initially thought the man was a victim of an auto-pedestrian accident but when she got out of her patrol car, she realized that the man had been shot. Homicide detectives were called out to the scene. Several people were around when the incident happened, but none of them saw the shooting. The victim, 18, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
