Armed suspect who led police on chase remains on loose

HOUSTON The suspect ditched his car at an apartment complex on Greens Road and Imperial Valley after a chase last night. The chase started when a police officer spotted a black Jaguar, which matched the description of a car used in a robbery. An HPD cruiser tried to pull the Jaguar over at Greens and Northchase. The driver stopped and then took off.

The driver eventually pulled into the Springfield at City View apartments. The Jaguar hit a truck before stopping. Police say the driver jumped from the car holding a semi-automatic pistol.

"The suspect jumps over the short fence and while on the other side within a short distance of him points the semi-automatic at the officer who fires his weapon one time," said HPD spokesman John Cannon.

Police did not find a bullet or blood and do not believe the suspect was hit. They searched for two hours using a helicopter and K-9 units, but could not find the suspect.
