HOUSTON --The American Civil Liberties Union of Texas is criticizing Governor Rick Perry over his upcoming prayer event here in Houston. The ACLU says it's worried the governor is using his public office to endorse a religious event. They've requested the governor's office to disclose the amount of taxpayer dollars being used to put on the event. 'The Response' is being billed as an historic gathering of people from across the nation to pray and fast for America. It's set for August 6 at Reliant Stadium. We asked for a comment from the governor's office, but have not heard back.
