DA's Office investigator accused of DWI

HOUSTON

Bryan Scott Vaclavik, 43, has been charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to stop and give information, both misdemeanors. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond. He's accused of hitting another vehicle then leaving the scene.

Vaclavick works as Chief Certified Fraud Examiner for the District Attorney's Financial Crimes Division.

He is due in court on July 25.

The DA's Office released a statement Monday afternoon which reads in part: "To avoid any appearance of conflict, the District Attorney has recused her office from prosecuting Mr. Vaclavik. She will ask Judge John Clinton to appoint an attorney pro tem to independently prosecute the pending matters. The District Attorney has also commissioned an internal disciplinary review of the circumstances related to Mr. Vaclavik's arrest."

Vaclavik has been with the District Attorney's Office since 1993.
