2 found shot inside burning home die from injuries

HOUSTON The incident happened at a home in the 600 block of W. Weisinger Dr. on Tuesday around 5pm in the Magnolia area. Firefighters discovered a man in the front yard that had been shot multiple times in the torso and leg. As emergency personnel battled the house fire, the man's wife was found inside the home and she had a single gunshot wound in the head.

The man died at the scene shortly after paramedics arrived. The woman later died from her injuries at the hospital.

Investigators say they believe the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide where the wife shot her husband, set fire to their home, and then shot herself.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says the victims are Floyd Meeks, 64, and his wife of 20 years Nancy Meeks, 65. Both were retired.

Investigators will continue with their investigation.
