HOUSTON --Brazoria County has decided to ban the sale and use of fireworks in the county, and Galveston County says a ban in unincorporated areas is likely to be passed this weekend too. The decision came Thursday during a Brazoria County Commissioners Court meeting. The county says the Top Dog Fireworks Warehouse store in Angleton will not open Friday as planned. Brazoria now joins Harris, Fort Bend, Waller and Montgomery counties in the decision to ban fireworks because of severe drought conditions. Galveston County's judge also is expected to sign a disaster declaration on Saturday morning to ban the sale of all fireworks in the unincorporated areas of the county. The ban would begin at noon Saturday and remain in effect for 60 hours, or until 12:01am Tuesday.
