Houston firefighters spent some time underground searching for a young teen Monday afternoon on the northwest side. According to the Houston Fire Department, just before 3pm, a private security officer reportedly saw a boy, about 12 to 14 years old, go down into a manhole in the 18900 block of Barker Cypress Road at Newport on the Lakes. The officer didn't seen the boy resurface.
Dozens of HFD firefighters were on the scene, along with two HFD rescue units. They spent about 40 minutes looking for the boy underground before calling off the search. It's believed the boy may have exited another way.
