Four from San Angelo die in 2-vehicle wreck

MERTZON, TX The Department of Public Safety says the crash happened Thursday night on U.S. Highway 67 near Mertzon, about 25 miles southwest of San Angelo.

DPS says 21-year-old Jasmine Gonzales, 21-year-old Daniel Gonzales, and two girls, 2-year-old Kierra Smith and 6-month-old Emori Gonzales, were dead at the scene. DPS says all four lived at the same residence in San Angelo. No other information on their relationships was available from DPS.

DPS says the driver of a southbound pickup, 60-year-old Glen Hodges of Fort Stockton, told investigators that he fell asleep at the wheel and his vehicle drifted into the oncoming lane. A hospital in San Angelo did not immediately return a message Friday on his condition.
