Man's death remains murder mystery

HOUSTON Houston police still have a murder mystery on their hands. Homicide investigators say they are still baffled as to who killed Joel Carrizalez, 43, who was found shot to death in his pickup truck back on May 13.

His truck was found parked at Olle Middle School. Two Alief ISD employees found Carrizalez found slumped on the driver's side. His wallet and the keys to his truck were missing.

Police say Carrizalez had been out with friends at a local cantina hours before he was murdered. He left the club around 4:45am to drop off a friend and was never heard from again.

The 43-year-old landscaper leaves behind a wife and four kids. Police and his family are pleading for the public's help.

"My dad was a serious and a friendly guy," said his son Flavio Carrizalez. "He had no problems with nobody. He was a good dad to us. Just to see that he's gone that, it's sad."

Investigators are expected to release surveillance video of Carrizalez leaving the cantina, as well as video of his truck driving by Olle Middle School about 30 minutes later. Those are the two strongest clues police have in the case right now.
