Port Aransas getting 2 more ferries

PORT ARANSAS, TX The Texas Department of Transportation says dedication ceremonies will be held June 24 at Port Aransas for the two new ferries, bringing the system's fleet to eight boats. The new boats carry up to 28 passenger vehicles, compared to 20 cars and trucks on the older ferries.

TxDOT says the new vessels will begin operation July 1. The ferry service connects Mustang Island and Port Aransas with the mainland via Aransas Pass.
