Driver killed in diesel tanker truck wreck

SUGAR LAND, TX According to Doug Adolph with the Sugar Land Police Department, at about 11am, a big rig tanker truck hauling diesel fuel was southbound on Highway 59 near the Grand Parkway when it crashed. There were no other vehicles involved, and the truck driver died at the scene.

The tanker leaked diese fuel, so all southbound lanes of Highway 59 between University Blvd. and FM 762, and some portions of the Grand Parkway are closed during the clean up.

Authorities say the incident may not be completely cleared until after the afternoon rush hour.

Motorists are being urged to detour to the feeder road and continue southbound. For an alternate route, use Highway 6 northbound to Highway 90A, then westbound to FM 762 in Richmond, then southbound back to the Southwest Freeway.
