Reward offered in slaying of Bexar County deputy

SAN ANTONIO, TX Officials tell the San Antonio Express-News that the fund was boosted by donations from the Texas Municipal Police Association and relatives of Bexar County Sheriff's Sgt. Kenneth Vann.

Sheriff's Deputy Chief Dale Bennett says 48-year-old Vann was killed early Saturday morning when someone in a small white car opened fire on him with an automatic weapon as he was en route to a call. Vann was stopped at a light in San Antonio.

A multi-agency task force is investigating the slaying. Authorities have not yet determined a motive.

Vann's funeral is set for Friday in Spring Branch.
