Love letter writer shares experience

HOUSTON

And this couple took that to a fine art. Bill and Audrey Lawson met by mail. They went to the same college, but a year apart, so a mutual friend dared her to write him. Some 600 love letters later, they married.

On Wednesday, they presented those letters to the Houston Public Library archives, surrounded by friends and family.

"Our love is very precious to us. And in this time of breakups and divorces, we'd like to be able to encourage other people to love each other and stay together. So we're proud to be able to offer them to the city," said Rev. Bill Lawson, who wrote love letters.

Library officials say the letters show a different side of a couple known for their community work.
