Honduran television station owner killed

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras Police say four gunmen attacked Luis Mendoza's car in the city of Danli.

The police statement says two women who were passing by were wounded in the attack Thursday.

There are no arrests and the motive is unknown.

Mendoza was the owner of Channel 24 of Danli. He was also a coffee grower and owned a real estate company.

The Honduran government has faced criticism for failing to resolve all but two of 13 deadly attacks against journalists over the past 18 months.

Some of those attacked had been vocally opposed to or supportive of a 2009 coup that ousted the president.
